About our Nursery

We are a Nursery based in the heart of Tadworth, with a lovely community around us.

We accept children from 2 years old until the year that they go to reception.

At Caterpillars Nursery we believe in giving our children the best possible start to their learning and development. To do this we have experienced well qualified staff who provide a wide variety of equipment and activities.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage which has 7 areas of learning:-

  • Communication & Language
  • Physical Development
  • Personal Social & Emotional Development
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding of the World
  • Expressive Arts & Design
For our children…
  • We provide a safe and stimulating environment
  • Each child has their own key person
  • Individual attention
  • Opportunities to join in all activities
  • Time to talk with adults
  • Encouragement to explore and discover for themselves
  • Individual learning journeys
  • An open door policy
  • Opportunities to come in and help
  • Information sharing
  • End of Term Summary reports
  • Parents Evening
  • Time to talk

The children can help themselves to a mid-morning/afternoon snack. A selection of fruit and vegetables are offered with milk or water and a snack such as toast, pita bread or crumpets.

We encourage the children to be involved in preparing the ‘snack bar’ cutting up their own fruit often making their own bread / smoothies as well as growing their own vegetables.

If a child receives an injury while at Caterpillars Nursery, the facts relating to the accident will be entered onto an ‘Accident Record Sheet’ and parents/carers will be requested to sign it when collecting their child. If a child arrives at Caterpillars Nursery School with an existing injury that happened outside of nursery school this injury will be entered into an ‘Incident Record Book’ for parents to sign. This system allows for clear identification and knowledge of all accidents/incidents and is in place to protect both the children and staff.

We love to play in the rain and with paint which means that we can get a bit dirty! We would like every child to have a spare set of clothes on their peg.

If your child is toilet training then please provide us with pull ups or nappies.

The nursery has a non-compulsory jumper which can be purchased from the nursery (please ask for current cost).

The children need to wear something weather appropriate – but always have a coat.

During the term prior to your child starting you will be invited to join the nursery for a number of settling in sessions.

  • We will ask the parent/carer to stay for the first session usually one hour
  • For the next we encourage the child to be left for some time
  • The number and duration of these sessions will depend completely on the individual family

First Day

On your child’s first day it may be advisable to drop them off a little later to avoid the busy morning!

We will give you a call if you wish us to let you know how your child is getting on.

Again it is advisable to come a little early to pick up.

We understand that the transition from home to nursery can be difficult for the child and the parents. We encourage you to spend as much time as you need to ensure that you are comfortable and know that your child is safe and happy with us.
